In its ninth year, the Pasta Bowl brings together 49er players, coaches, alumni and executives (who all took their turn serving as waiters) along with dinner guests at sponsored tables. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and wine from ten California vintners in the reception held at the BNY Mellon Club West before adjourning upstairs for dinner.

The Foundations

49ers/STEM – STEM is a six-year program that was launched in the summer of 2014. The program is offered free of charge to selected students via a yearly screening and a qualifying process. The selected students take enhanced Institute math and science courses that prepare them for higher learning and leadership.

Fresh Lifelines for Youth – Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is an award-winning non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence, crime and incarceration of teens. Through FLY’s unique and powerful combination of programs – legal education, leadership training and one-on-one mentoring – youth get off probation, become engaged in school and get back on track with their lives. City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley – Every year, more than 2,600 students in San José drop out of high school. The consequences for our community are real: Students who drop out are eight times more likely to become incarcerated and three times more likely to be unemployed. When a student drops out of school it has a lasting effect on our communities and society as a whole. Using near-peer mentors in San José’s most under-served schools to address specific areas that lead to students dropping out, City Year helps close the gap, between what students need to succeed and what schools are designed to provide.
