The Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament teed off the week with the $100,000 dollar Chevron-sponsored Giants versus 49ers shootout on February 4th. This year the Giants’ Community Fund won a total of $30,000 and bragging rights thanks to Matt Cain, Ryan Vogelsong, Javier Lopez, Robb Nen, J.T. Snow and Dave Flemming. The 49ers Foundation took home $20,000 thanks to Harris Barton, Alex Smith, Brent Jones, Steve Bono, Dwight Clark, ringer/tour pro Matt Bettencourt.
This was not a hard-core competition. The athletes joked around and engaged with onlookers while waiting for the other members of their foursome. The remaining $50,000 was donated to charities designated by the participants.
