Editor’s Note July 2015

The first full month of Summer has us pondering other firsts…like the Golden State Warrior’s triumph in the NBA finals. That deserves a parade…and we have the pixs. As basketball exits the sports fan’s conscious, baseball is in full swing with football’s pre-season soon to be rushing in. We spoke with a new San Francisco Giant – Justin Maxwell – and tackled San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback – Colin Kaepernick – for an exclusive five minutes during his recent ProCamp.

From driving celebrated athletes along a parade route, we transition to athletes in race cars as we cover numerous races of IndyCars (the Texas 600 and Fontana MAV TV 500), two days of NASCAR racing (the Toyota Save Mart 350 and K&N Pro Series West race), a Formula One contest in Austria and interview a young driver about her choice of profession.

The team aspect of racing caused us to reflect on members of a team who have long supported the Boys and Girls Club of Tracy, CA via the Keena Turner Golf Tournament. We also explore design and fashion as aspects of community via the Fashion Designer’s Expo and “Art Hearts” Fashion.

Crowds are a type of community…and we were in and among them to see performances by some favorite groups we listened to growing up. The memories were so thick we had to brush them away like flies (FoD reference). Excellence as burnished by time. Do you feel like I do?

Speaking of time, it seems like ages since we cast our gaze on some new fashion offerings. Our solution? Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015. Yum! Not content, we also sniffed about the Tod’s Menswear and Very Exclusive lines.

Diagonally (and no, we did not wish to say Diagon Alley), we attended a Fit Expo which was not only populated by the fit and fabulous, but demonstrated that lines in a grid could be used to create a new spectator sport. Go to http://www.npgl.com for more information…but only after you peruse this month’s magazine.

Enjoy!
