Keena Turner Golf Tournament

The 19th Annual Keena Turner Golf Tournament to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Tracy took on June 16th. Over one hundred sixty golfers including several of Mr. Turner’s former teammates made their way to the Ruby Hills Golf Club in Pleasanton, CA for the yearly fund-raising event. Legendary players like Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott and Eric Wright were just a few of those who played then stayed for the dinner and auction that followed. The number of former players in the region also makes this event a type of reunion for former members of the San Francisco 49ers organization.

For nineteen years, Keena Turner has been an avid supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Tracy and a role model for athletes who desire to give back to their communities. In years past, the funds raised amount to about one tenth of the organization’s budget which benefitted approximately 2500 members from six clubhouses in the City of Tracy. The Club’s success means there is always a waiting list – currently standing at 100+ names.

Mr. Turner likes to downplay his contribution, instead citing Kelly Wilson, Boys & Girls Clubs executive director, and Kelly Low, operations director, for their skills in organizing the event. The Club’s current focus is on helping kids become proficient readers by the end of third grade.

The Boys & Girls Club of Tracy provides a safe place to learn and grown, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences and, most importantly, hope and opportunity. A membership costs just $35.00 per year.
