March Editor’s Note 2015
The bulb behind the sign, which reads “spring”, is now illuminated for the local population here on the Mid-California Coast. The cherry trees are again offering their blooms like shy prom dates…only to be stuck to residence window screens by the force of March winds which will soon arrive. We will leave it to you to complete the second part of that literary analogy.
If it is indeed Spring, then what better way to investigate the fashion possibilities than via one of our favorites designers – Fashion Island – and their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Fashion brings to mind Red Capet walks…and we have coverage of both the Grammy’s and the Oscars in this issue. And before we leave the world of entertainment, we visit a recent tribute to one of the greatest in his field: Stevie Wonder.
Under the heading, “What Might Be”, we find a young actress who plays a part in the recently released movie, McFarland, USA. Contained therein a story of sports and achievement, what should naturally follow is a real life sports competition on the slopes from our friends at Red Bull.
Snow white – also the color of golf balls – is our tenuous connection to the next group of content – The Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tournament. We covered the contest for charity between the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants as well as the celebrity charity event. We continued by following the pairings of professionals and amateurs and ended with the finals on Sunday. What great weather we had!
Who is the future of golf you ask? See our article about young Miss Gracie McGovern as told with her father’s words. And just beginning an annual event, see the First Tee Par Tee event to be held each year at Pebble Beach.[:]
