Promenade Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance

One of the signature events in Monterey Classic Car Week is Rolex’s Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance. This year’s event was run under some of the best weather conditions in recent memory. Nearly 200 automobiles – with a collective value running into the many hundreds of millions of dollars – completed a non-competitive tour of 80 miles (129 kilometers) to the approval of numerous onlookers. The event pays homage to an historic 17-mile race which was run between 1950 and 1956.

“There are clear parallels between the classic car scene at this level and those of Rolex,” said Rolex Watch USA President and Chief Executive Officer, Stewart Wicht. “Many of the owners here at Pebble Beach are motivated by excellence and a passion for the enduring sense of tradition. These are the values shared by Rolex and Pebble Beach is therefore an entirely fitting partnership for us.”

Successful participation in the Tour d’Elegance can also play a part in determining which car takes home the prize later in the week at the Rolex-supported Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

This year’s remarkable line-up included a 1902 Panhard et Lavassor TB1 saloon and a yet-to-go-on-sale Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-S.
