Raiders and Dolphins Heading To London

The Oakland Raiders and the Miami Dolphins are heading to London where they will meet at Wembley Stadium on September 28 to kick off the NFL’s first International Series game of the season.

London’s iconic Wembley Stadium will be converted into a temporary an American football stadium so it can host three NFL games. The Atlanta Falcons will play the Detroit Lions on October 26, while the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars will face off on November 9.

More than 250,000 fans are expected to attend during the biggest season of games ever hosted outside the US.

Pre-game show entertainment for the first game will be provided by rock legends Def Leppard, who will showcase some of their biggest hits before kick-off.

For the thousands of American fans heading to the game to cheer on their favorite teams, it will be the trip of a lifetime. Many will be enjoying their first trip outside of the United States and for the majority, it will be their first time ever in London.

While the Oakland and Miami fans will be traveling to cheer their teams on Game Day and participate in the many game-related festivities organized by London and the National Football League, they will also have the opportunity to visit some of the most iconic sights in the world.

Visitors to London can walk in the footsteps of kings, queens, playwrights and poets, attend a soccer game, play darts in a pub, drink a few pints and make new friends.

There’s plenty of fun for the whole family. Enjoy the spectacular views from the London Eye Ferris Wheel; walk past Buckingham Palace to look for Royals and to watch the Changing of the Guard; learn the dark and varied history of the Tower of London; enjoy the architectural and historical splendor of Westminster Abbey; set your wristwatch to Big Ben time; view art exhibitions at the British Museum, Tate Modern, V&A, and National Gallery; and take a film studio tour to see how Harry Potter films were made. Among the highlights of any trip to London are Thames River cruises, High Tea, West End theatre performances, and shopping for bargains or luxury items at King’s Road, Carnaby Street or Oxford Street.

For U.S. fans nostalgic for a touch of home, London’s famed Regent Street will be transformed into a traffic-free American street party, adorned with stars and stripes to celebrate the NFL games in England’s capital city. The party on Saturday, September 27 will be packed full of fun events and experiences for shoppers visiting the street. It will also feature live music, DJs, team areas, mascots, drumlines, NFL sporting challenges, American-inspired foods, cheerleaders, and even some surprise player appearances.
