To make an analogy to the Harlem Globetrotters, the 49ers were “The Generals” to the Packers’ performance on this day. Leading in all critical statistics: Total Yards, Time of Possession, Lack of Turnovers plus Fourth Down Conversions (five out of six times), this was an abuse of our woeful warriors as they struggle to overcome not only a quarterback controversy but a new coach’s confidence with the personnel at his disposal.

Let’s be fair though, it is the pre-season. We are not seeing our best team on the field. Four different quarterbacks were cycled into the lineup for their close-ups…and the style changes between them is enough to throw an offensive line and the receivers into confusion. This off off Broadway version of the 49ers will soon be replaced with solid, healthy first-stringers and we will see how this season’s performance will play out.

Let’s just get it out there: It is our position that quarterback Colin Kaepernick has unfairly (and all too conveniently) been the focus of the general discontent with the current 49er’s rebuilding years and this must stop. Can you imagine having the fan-base declare you a Jonah and being forced to endure that ire until your contract runs out? If it were your workplace, would you not tell the higher-ups to stuff it? We think so. That he is still willing to take the field amidst the ignorant boos and jeers says more about his mindset and character…and we still see a path to redemption for him…either here or with another team.
As for Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers’ two drives against the 49ers – with sharp, pin point passes – showed that he is ready for the season ahead.
