Twentytwo to Use New Elevator Products to Reduce Construction Time and Passenger Wait Times
Twentytwo Bishopsgate is set to be the tallest building in London’s business district upon completion, standing at 255 metres (840 feet) tall and adding 1.4 million square feet of office space to the city.

Described as an ‘urban village campus,’ the building has been conceived as more than office space, seeking to enhance the quality of life of its approximately 12,000 occupants with a blend of private and public spaces and amenities.

To help realise this vision, TwentyTwo has turned to Otis to supply state-of-the-art elevators and escalators. Otis Limited, will install 57 elevators and 10 escalators, including 18 Gen2® elevators, 13 SkyRise® single-deck, and 26 SkyRise double-deck elevators combined with the CompassPlus® destination management system.

It’s predicted that by 2030, 60% of the world’s population will live in cities, causing a fundamental transformation of urban skylines. As buildings stretch ever upwards, architects and developers are challenged to put people at the heart, designing for human experiences.

Working out how best to move people around these buildings in an efficient, green and more personalized way is one of the biggest challenges architects and developers face. Twentytwo will feature state-of-the-art Otis people products. When completed, the high rise elevators will be Europe’s fastest SkyRise double-decks, running at 8 metres/sec (approx. 30km/hour), acting as the building’s lifeline. The Otis CompassPlus® destination system will intelligently manage traffic flow around the building.
