The five-day event of Adelaide Fashion Festival, which began on Wednesday, showcases the work of established and emerging designers from across South Australia.

The festival’s 20 events, including 10 designer runways, are also celebrating creative industries such as hair and makeup, artisan, visual and graphic design.

Among the major labels on show this year are Paolo Sebastian, Tiff Manuell, Casper + Pearl and Simmone Standing The Label.

Joining the designers is internationally acclaimed supermodel Coco Rocha.

Rocha will meet with local designers and select outfits to model over the course of the festival.

At 28, the Canadian-born supermodel has been at the top of the industry for more than a decade, appearing on the cover of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle around the world.

“It’s a thrill for my family and I to come visit (Australia) once again this week and experience for the first time the sights, sounds, foods and fashion of beautiful Adelaide,” Rocha said.

“I’m looking forward to watching and supporting some amazing local talent at the fashion festival and doing a little exploring on the side.”

Adelaide Fashion Festival creative director Chris Kontos is excited to see the variety of designs unveiled at this year’s festival.

“The AFF Runway is going to be jam-packed with the hottest trends, Adelaide’s ‘it’ designers and cool styles that everyone will want to wear.” Kontos said.

“We have such a diversity within our band of local designers, but there are many who have complimentary aesthetics.”
