Dixon Wins Verizon P1 Award in Ohio
Scott Dixon won of the 2014 Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio and today he broke Lap records set by both Franchitti in 1999 at 1 minute, 05.347 and later by de Ferran who matched it 364 days later.
Dixon will start in first position on Sunday’s 90-lap race on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course Aug. 2. Dixon set new track lap record in the Firestone Fast Six segment of knockout qualifications earning him the Verizon P1 Award for his second pole of the season and 23rd of his Indy car career, which puts him as in the same league Johnny Rutherford for 12th all time.
