Grammys 2014

The music industry’s premier awards ceremony was broadcast from Staples Center in late January. Former Grammy winner LL Cool J once again hosted the three plus hour ceremony. The talent was again a mixture of both new and seasoned performers – a tradition which makes the evening enjoyable for all ages.

Beyoncé and husband Jay Z’s sultry opening number Drunk in Love (from her surprise-release album titled “Beyoncé”) set the stage on fire. She gyrated her way through foggy special effects ala Flashdace then was joined by Jay Z to close. Our personal conflict of the night surrounded the award for Best Rapper. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis received the award but we feel Kendrick Lamar was more deserving.

Other performances included Album of the Year winner Daft Punk, Keith Urban and Gary Clark Jr., Madonna, Robin Thicke, Chris, Lorde, lifetime achievement winners Paul McCartney and Ringo Star, Katy Perry, Juicy J, the all-star quartet of Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson and Blake Shelton.
