MIAMI – May 29, 2014 – Telemundo to premiere “Miss Latina Universo,” the first-ever reality show in television history. The winner will compete in the Miss Universe®. The show Premiers Sunday, June 15 at 8PM/7C. TV personality Raúl González and Rashel Díaz, host of Telemundo’s morning show “Un Nuevo Dia.”
“Miss Latina Universo” marks Raúl González’s return to Telemundo after his network debut as host of the Billboard Latin Music Awards. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Raúl’s artistic career includes successful theater, television and radio productions, as well as several records, earning him prestigious awards in both his native country and the United States.
Rashel Díaz, the beautiful and charismatic host of Telemundo’s morning show “Un Nuevo Día,” brings previous experience in beauty pageants, including Telemundo’s Miss Universe® broadcast, Miss Puerto Rico Universe® and Camino a la Corona. One of People en Español’s “25 Most Beautiful Latina Stars,” Rashel is also a distinguished flamenco dancer and owns a dance academy in Miami.
Following extensive national auditions and a rigorous pre-selection process, “Miss Latina Universo” will introduce a group of beautiful women who meet the criteria for participating in “Miss Universe®.” In accordance with the rules established by this international pageant, the participants will compete to win the audience’s support, regardless of their heritage. A pool of judges composed of celebrities with extensive experience in the world of entertainment and fashion, as well as judging beauty competitions, will guide the contestants but, ultimately, the winner will be chosen by the audience vote. After the first elimination, a group of 14 candidates will live together 24/7 and participate in a demanding Academy program until one of them is crowned as the first “Miss Latina Universo.”
