The range and depth of the 49er’s arsenal was on full display this week as the offense overwhelmed Miami in the fourth quarter to win 27-13. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw for 185 yards and sealed the win with a spectacular 50 yard touchdown run late in the 4th quarter with two plus minutes left. Running back Frank Gore found the end zone, tying Joe Perry and Roger Craig’s franchise record with 50 career rushing touchdowns. Rookie runningback back LaMichael James made his NFL debut with 8 carries.

The game’s momentun shifted early in the third quarter when number 27, C.J. Spillman,recovered a flubbed kickoff reception early in the 3rd quarter.

The highlight of the defensive effort was linebacker Aldon Smith’s two sacks to establish a new franchise record of 19 1/2 sacks. He is on a mission to break Michael Strahan’s league record of 22 1/2 sacks in a season.
