Dickens Annual Fair

Photographers in search of fine subjects are seldom disappointed when they embark on a tour of the annual Christmas Dickens Fair.

The Fine holiday clothing from days gone by and period scenery/furnishings are but stagecraft for the merry presenters who relish their roles of early 19th century Londoners. Over 120,000 square feet of area are converted into theatrically lit music halls, pubs, dance floors and Christmas shops. Come all ye of good cheer and merry disposition – join in the festivities! The Dickens Christmas Fair is a treasured Bay Area tradition since 1970 and runs from just after Thanksgiving to just before Christmas each year.

In an unprecedented step for this magazine, I also point you to an article written by one Beth Spotswood which appears in the SFGate blog space – http://blog.sfgate.com/culture/2011/12/12/tourist-trapped-the-great-dickens-christmas-fair . Tart, yet possessing just the right amount of truthy sweetness. Well baked!
