Thomas Davis honored with the Walter Peyton Award

In the showcase portion of the program, Thomas Davis of the Carolina Panthers won the Walter Peyton NFL Player of the Year. After a brief video which covered his early life in Shellman, Georgia, excerpts of his volunteer work with kids and philanthropy were presented.

In his speech, Mr. Davis called on those present: “Let’s take charge. Let’s dare to be different. We are a village…a village of guys who can change this world. We are all well-compensated for what we do. Let’s step up and show these children that we care about them. Let’s give the media something positive to talk about instead of always bashing our league.” A lengthy round of applause followed.
